just added to etsy....

autographed magazines---various somerset studio magazines - that feature my work and articles. this image here is from my very first article and featured interview by jana holstein. it was my debut.
sept./oct, 2006 issue.

now i am a frequent contributor to these magazines and also an Artist-on-Call.
as a contributor i usually write about techniques and processes; as an artist-on-call i am given specific assignments.
for instance right now i am creating fun cards using the new jenny doh stamp line - and it is fun!

stream of consciousness painting....

here are two more of these paintings - titled "seeking counsel" and "after dark, group of six". i wrote the article on these stream of consciousness paintings that have appeared in the current somerset studio magazine - which is at the news stands now - check it out at barnes and noble, etc. or emil www.stampington.com and click publications.
see previous blurb or read it here:
original stream of consciousness paintings as in my article in the latest Somerset Studio (nov dec 2009) magazine by the same name. these "spirits" in warm white came into being by themselves. i ran my brush filled iwth warm white across the paper and then i saw them. they are a delightful group of angels, or spirits, sometimes winged, sometimes in groups. very interesting. each one is obviously different.
some names i have for them are:
"two for one spirit"
"after dark, group of six" (here)
"seeking counsel" (here)
"baby between"

you could use it as a journal page and write on top of it, you could copy it and write or draw on it (please don't sell or give away the copies or license them as your own work), you could incorporate it into your own project and say that it was in collaboration with me or not, i could just be your "ghost" artist.
they are painted on small brown paper bags, flatten and first painted in burnt umber -
5" x 81/2" $10.00 each

dark art....

3 dark art pieces now for sell on etsy....$30 each.
this dark art was created to appear in somerset studio magazine in 2006. it was a workshop article -where i wrote about how i created the background elements by using bleach on black paper and then tinting the bleached area slightly.

the bleach technique leaves the paper with nice warm cream colored "burn-out".
in the end, a different art piece out of my series was chosen to feature for that article.
only one was to be chosen.
this one is called "baby's guardian" - she (guardian) is a happy presence.
(i see the photo of this art piece is slightly crooked).

etsy sales...

this week i started selling things on etsy. its mostly to help clear out my studio since i can no longer function in it.
i noticed this morning preparing for my "glam" paintover class....(awesome people in my class, all my favorite people. so cool)..... that i was getting a little confused...OK more than a little. i have had my studio organized in the past by my dear friend kathy olsen....but that was long ago and my stuff shifts and breaths on its own and today i went to grab my teaching tools and they weren't where i thought they would be. good thing i was up early to figure things out. but in the end i took way too much stuff - i mean wwwaaaaaay too much stuff. it exhausted me. and its confusing for class. which was too bad since it was one of my favorite classes of all. so now more than ever i am wanting to rid myself of stuff. i have cool stuff too - it's not like its junk...that's why it is so hard to make myself part with it.
but i am needing to take drastic measures now. drastic times call for drastic measures. that's what i used to say to my son when he didn't brush his teeth - i would be holding up a brush with ajax pile on it- threatening to use it if he didn't brush after every meal. it worked for a time.....but it would be back the drastic times.
so etsy. i have been placing shoebox sized boxes jammed full of studio images, cutouts, paintovers on paper, ATCs, ATC backgrounds, ribbons, stamps, scrap book paper, vintage papers (yes i am even parting with them too) and now i am going to put paints tubes in there too. acrylic paints. i have too much. ugh.
but, every sliver of paper in each box is meaningful or purposeful - i selected them for a specific reason, the rest i have to throw away. the boxes are heavy - so i am grateful for the postal deal where you can send stuff up to 70 lb.s for the flat price. the shoebox size is $10.35 in postage to ship anywhere in the states. which, truthfully i thought was high until i found that mailing is frickin' expensive no matter how you slice it.
then there is handling charges - the box, unless i use the US postal one is over $2.50 then there is tracking - and something else - maybe its insurance. jacks things up anther $5.00 or so. well, i'm not insuring these fodder boxes.

yeah, i am calling them fodder boxes, because it makes me feel good to get rid of stuff (fodder) that is useful in the making of art, like unfinished or partcially finised work, bits and pieces of painted images that can help someone finish their own project.
so, the fodder boxes are $20.00 each.....
i have sold over 12 boxes last week that shipped to all over the nation, some places are very obscure. even to canada! i have had great reports about them, maybe one or two recipients will write about them here...i'm hoping.
the point is this all got me thinking...i like this idea of contributing to other people's art projects. what if i sold little hand painted elements little tiny dragonflies or dog, and cats or people and flowers so that others could put it on their art piece. i could be a contributor or a collaborator.

so then i started to sell half finished paintings on paper - for a few dollars each. each one acts like a prompt to the receiving artist to finish. - a portable muse. i send these half done paintings out with my name already signed at the bottom (upon request) so that when the new recipient/ owner has the piece they can finish it as they please and claim that it was in a collaboration with me. it is an easy way to expand and learn when you have to wrestle with someone else's prompt.
a prompt/ it belongs to them.
so, i decided to name my etsy shop, "pimp my art".

this painting you see here is a finished (signed) piece on paper, these old for $20.00.
it is a painted over magazine rip outs, finished and signed by me.
the buyer can scan and use the image again and again as a practice piece to learn from. then frame the original for their studio. or sell it. these are a great deal when you consider an original painting that size on canvas sells between $95 - $125 from my gallery.

so stay tuned - you people who like original art for cheap. i am happily working hard on more paintings.
but first - tomorrow - i am taking drastic measures, i am throwing out more stuff, right after i brush my teeth with ajax.

thank you , everyone who helped me today, especially with clean up. and thank you, randy and edna for coming and filming me - and suzi blu too. kathy, as always, you are the best.

i just LOVE artists retreats. : )

demo boards for sale, cheap!

i have a surplus of "started" little canvases and demo boards that i created during my paintover workshops. i used them to demonstrate such things as how to create an interesting background by laying on layers of paint, then scribing through the wet layers of paint, stamping into them while wet and /or painted over collage elements collaged; all to create interest and intrigue.
some canvases were used to illustrate other steps like how to glue down the image seamlessly. and of course how to paint so that the images looks "married" to the canvas. i love these little canvases, i keep them so that i don't have to start from scratch when i have a time crunch, when a project is due for publishing or entering a show, etc. i love them, love them.
but i have too many - i keep tripping over them - so i am selling them 2 to a pack for $6.50 plus s & h. or 4/pack for $12.00. their sizes vary from as big as 9" x 12" - to as small as 4" x 4".
use them to plunk down your project straight on top (like i do) or whatever you want. take the color that's on the canvas already as a clue as to what color project to adhere on top.

they are great for the artist on the go. (like me). these packs are a grab bag because i don't have time to sort unique orders.
and feel good, you are helping me - this is all part of a BIG effort to clear out my studio space so that i can continue creating! thanks for helping!!!!
get them at my etsy shop "pimpmyart" www.pimpmyart.etsy.com - they are a hot item! or email me at lisabebiart@aol.com

on etsy.....

check out my beautiful new paintings i just posted on etsy.
my name is pimp my art. "pimpmyart". http://www.facebook.com/l/;pimpmyart.etsy.com this is the cheapest way to get one of my glam paintover paintings -the reason is because its just painting on paper - no support, you can either put it on your own support or incorporate it into your art/journaling, whatever. i have it listed as a supply, but it is both fine art and/or fodder.
$20.00 each.

also i just placed some automatic paintings for sale too. they are $10. each
this is all new to me, the first time i have put my work for sale on the internet. i am a bit nervous, but i know i will figure it out.

i only charge $2.20 for one that is incomplete.

i'm proud of this article!

just got my advanced issue of somerset studio, nov/dec 2009 - pages 20-24 has my art and my article on automatic painting. (remember when i was fooling around with brown paper bags a few months back? see previous posts around june or july)
anyway, i did some reseach on automatic painting and here is my article. once again, somerset studio has done a great job. the article is called "stream -of-consciousness painting".
you can pick up your copy from me (www.lisabebiart@aol.com) or www.stampington.com or barnes and noble or any other major book seller and at michael's, etc.
i hope that you like it - and you know what - you should try my technique - its good for the soul and your art both.

last glam paintover workshop..... for the year

this will be the last glam paintover workshop for a while. for those of you who are coming from out of town - you probably should call the stamp addict and make sure they know (see sidebar for their number and other info). this is an encore class, but i will have new techniques for those who wonder if they should come again.

last minute people - i know who you are. i mean, you know who you are. the flights will probably be cheaper for you.

there is a small motel across the street from the stamp addict -it's $55.00 a night, but you will get an even better rate if you mention my name. harvey's motel, (family owned) (619) 463-5700, 7166 el cajon blvd., san diego, CA 92115. they have a pool, free wifi, HBO bring your bffs. (best friends forever, plus)

you don't have to bring supplies - i have it all. you don't need any painting experience. the paint dries fast so you can take it on the airplane in your suit case.

i'm very excited to meet you. and by the way - san diego is an awesome place to visit.

and while you are here you can pick up your fodder kit and the SS workshop magazine - i mean if you wanna. and i will sign it.

BIG NEWS: big mixed media celeb SUZI BLU will be in the class TOO! - come meet her as well!!!!
don't know suzi blu? google suzi blu.

fodder boxes

i am so pleased that the US postal service will be supplying me (and anyoneelse who lives in the USA) free boxes that to ship can weight ANYTHING for a flat rate. therefore i have been selling my studio fodder that has been piling up skyhigh around here.
imagine a shoebox full of lisa bebi studio fodder - stuff i was going to use, but have too much of. these include vintage papers, paintovers on paper - some half finished waiting for you to finish (if you show your art with my art, just call it a collaborative with lisa bebi (i could sign my half done pieces, request this otherwise i won't), small canvases (since any weight will do), scrapbook papers, ATCs (about 10) all dolled up for you, mag. cutouts that i had planned on using. a shoebox holds a LOT of paper - and i do fill them to the top. i would be so thankful. not only would you be awesome for helping the environment by recycling, you would be doubly awesome for helping out a fellow artist who needs to get organized.
i have finally come to the realization that--- even if i got to live 3 or 4 lifetimes, i would never be able to use all this stuff. or even 10 lifetimes. maybe tonight i will be brave and upload the image of my overloaded studio.
so here's the deal, each shoes box size is $20, plus shipping and handling. but you can chose your own amount by looking at the us postal flat rate website and pick a boxsize - that will be your rate. for instance i think medium boxes ship for $10.35. my price for fodder will vary with the size of box you pick.
if you are interested email me:
lisabebiart@aol.com
visit www.facebook.lisabebi.com to see more of the contents and some description.
or you could mail your order to me
lisa bebi
8030 la mesa blvd, suite 259
la mesa, CA 91941
or you could order it off etsy and use paypal
at "pimpmyart"
these are selling like hotcakes - but don't worry i have plenty of fodder for everyone.

my facebook icon

this is my image for my profile page on facebook - its a 9" x 12" acrylic painting on stretched canvas - $75, plus shipping. yeah its the original and of course signed. i am beginning to sell stuff off. i have wayyy too big of an accumulation of art, bits of art, papers, and experiments, just stuff.
so i decided to put a 5 pound box of lisa bebi's studio stuff - a grab bag of it on ebay and etsy for sell. you can have a look at the photo there. www.lisabebi.etsy.com or it could be www.pimpmyart.etsy.com i forget which name it is under - i only opened the account today. i have a lot to learn. in fact it might not be "live" exactly yet. tomorrow it will though. i opened it in order to get a paypal account going - i have already had orders from all over the states. no one is more surprised than me! but this is great - i can view cleaning and clearing my studio as a profession now. this should help me overcome a condition i will just call "hoard".
i have been practicing on an application on facebook called "farmville". i have made myself sell off lots of the farm - even though i resisted because more is better, right? but i urged myself on - and i have been able to sell it off and even delete some of it. this is all prep work to get me to delete some (all) of my studio clutter. i think it is working.
so if you want some studio fodder and you live near enough to pick it up - you can have a box or two for as little as $20. there's good stuff including lots of my art. you could use my paintings on paper and put them in your own journal pages or on your ATCs or just frame it. there are also half finished canvases that just be for you to finish.
if you live near me and you aren't a crazy person, you can come help me and get stuff for free.
email me: lisabebiart@aol.com if you are interested in helping me.

let's dance....

ahhh, poor suzi blu is suzi flu today - so when she is feeling better we will have a "studio bebi" day.

i am still putting together - studio trash or fodder for those who are interested.

it costs $10 plus shipping and handling. it's just stuff that i bought too many of or stuff i made too many of ....but mostly papers - some painted some not - tags, ribbons and experiements, stickers, etc. stuff that would make a mixed media person happy. its a cool grab-bag. you won't be unhappy if you buy a big bag of it.
and you will be very cool because you will be recycling - and we all know that is awesome and doubly cool because you will be helping out a fellow artist clear her studio so that she can create more beautiful stuff- while you finish the already started beautiful stuff that the world needs to see.

if you buy a $20 box of stuff - you will be the cool person winner.
just email me: www.lisabebiart@aol.com

once in a while....

someone comes along and just makes your day!

that's my fellow art friend suzi blu. i love her spirit - so full of life and easy breeziness. she knows art is for everyone. she is a "go girl" cheerleader.

she is one special person. a special, delicate treasure for this mortal world. a one of a kind - because the good lord knows we aren't all able to appreciate his gifts as they should be appreciated - so he gives only one or two in a lifetime. and suzi blu is one for me. and i intend to nurture my dear little friend - a gift from heaven.

tomorrow is our playdate.

i get to finish with my 2008 taxes this week. woot woot.

i have been thinking about the theme that is due this weekend at escondido arts partnership. it's glass and metal.
ugh for me.
and next month renee richetts and i are going to showing our very best futuristic art pieces. you will not want to miss that - all new art at the EAP second saturday evening of the month.

studio cleaning.....

while clearing out stuff from my studio, i thought i would first try to cut up some of my acrylics on paper abstracts into ATCs (artist trading cards).

the results were fabulous. if fact they are practically "done" all that is needed on each of these is some central focal point like a tiny paintover or stickers, or a special saying. also they could be used for the paper backing to display one of a kind jewelry.

the possibilities are unlimited. really.

my memorial painting of my dear aunt lillian...

dear aunt lillian - thank you for your kindness and caring - thank you for your love of swimming and sewing and mostly your love of family.

rest in peace.

i gave to this her daughter, my sweet cousin anita.

sometimes i feel red.....

this photo is cock-eyed - its actually a square painting 40" x 40". the sides are squared but look cut in a funny way here.

awww, well, if you would like to see this beauty it is at my little gallery at escondido arts partnership.
this is not a paintover. BTW.

this is a painting of a russian ballerina of circa 1920's called russian dancer.

sometimes i feel like painting in red.

i have several paintings that have red as a dominant color. or as in this case - almost the whole color. its very striking and for me, emotionally charged.

making a glam paintover.....

learn to paint on a magazine tear out and turn it into and fun wall hanging.

isn't she cute?
i thought she would look god in light blue and lavender. see the shiny parts? that is the part of the magazine page i left alone. (also some aluminum foil to the left i use as my palette)

this class takes place 10/27/09 at the Stamp Addict (san diego, CA) this month ---see my sidebar here to find out details.

"very still" , a still life

i am horrible at painting florals

but every once in a while i do one anyway.

this one is larger than it looks, its 48" x 30".
