for this piece, which looks a bit like a maxfield parrish print because the shadows are soft.
i used tints of colors, starting with yellow as the entire underlying color. then adding robin's egg to background and after trying many different tries, i came up with this format. under paint in yellow, then cover up most the background in robin egg turquoise. next add some pinks. then some more light blue - oh yeah - there was black underneath too. later, i will make the features a bit more clear by using a fine brush.

Is it a photo of your daughter that you painted on? Or did you do the portrait? It's really effective. Does she like having her image on art? My daughter is so shy, I have to catch her ungarded moments!
That yellow just blows me away...I love how you have used the bright colors in this....gorgeous.
the piece is just a black and white photo cpy that i stained and painted. really it was only a 4 step process.
my daughter is OK now - she is 15 - but she used to hate me posting anything about her.
