all in a line.....

these are three of 4 canvases that are going to be home for some mid century bathing beauties. i work in series-es, if that is a word. i doubt that is a word. i love to line up canvases and work in the same style of 4 or 5 even 6 at a time. since i work very fast, it makes sense for me to approach my work this way. i can rapidly work one after the other - creating a cohesiveness to the pieces. why do i work this way? i don;t really know, i have just evolved this way. i think it all has something to do with laziness and short attention span.

so, tomorrow another full day's work tomorrow with artist claire-lise anderegg at my house. i do enjoy our workdays together. we are learning a lot about each other's work and work styles. hopefully, in the end, we will do a wonderful collaborative that everyone will enjoy.
also, i spent the better part of yesterday and today with my great art buddy, kathy olsen. she got a bee in her bonnet about the state of her garage and work studio, so we cleared out boxes and boxes of crafts that she says she does not want anymore. i couldn't see her throwing them in the trash so i took them to put in my already full garage.

so, what does this mean? this means that i HAVE GOT TO organize a craft garage sale. this will take some doing. i have said many times in the past that i ought to do this, but now there is no turning back. stay tuned for the date.

OK american idol: so sorry to see season 8 come to a close. i think adam will win - he is massively talented and from san diego. and this will make my dear cousin fred happy since he picked adam from the start.
however, i must say that chris has turned me around. i was saying all throughout this season that he should be thrown off - but this has changed for me. i really like his beatnik style - his soft, feeling voice, his many music talents - he plays about every instrument, i think. adam is adam, but chris is a lot more than just chris - he has talent in many ways - singing, playing re-writing music, making old songs his own -every time. if that makes sense.
so we shall see.

Oh golly, how unfortunate. I guess if the American voting public can elect Ronald Reagan twice and George Bush twice they are certainly capable of erring with the election of Chris as "American Idol." Adam is an extremely talented and very gracious person and he was easily the more deserving contestent. I will be among the chorus of followers who will gladly buy his music at the first opportunity becaue I like his voice, I like him as a person and want to help him, and I think he is a great entertainer. It's just too bad that the most pervasive talent did not prevail in the voting.

There are many gays in the entertainment world (and the rest of the world too) and it's truly unfortunate that those with tremendous gifts of talent can't get the full recognition that they deserve. There is much discrimination in our lives and Adam's 2nd place finish is only the manifestation of one, but one very visible, facet of this. It is sad that with nearly 100 million votes cast that objectively could not prevail. On the other hand, if the informal information from Seacrest on Larry King is correct that approximatly 1 million votes separated Adam from Kris then I salute the large minority that had it right.
